he Slate Valley Museum explores the landscape and the history and culture of the quarrying community and the slate industry in the Slate Valley.

The museum's exhibitions, programs, workshops, and events examine immigration, tools and technology, geology, craftsmanship, and the legacy of the slate industry that continues to be written today.

July 8; 10am-Noon: Mask-Only Mornings - A time reserved for visitors who prefer to be in environments where everyone wears a mask.
Noon-4pm: Open for regular, self-guided visits.
July 9, open 10am-4pm for our SlaterDay event, featuring:
  • Slate working demos from a local slate worker
  • Painting on slate demonstrations
  • Hands-on slate art/craft activities
  • Museum scavenger hunt
  • Gift shop with slate items crafted in the Slate Valley
